The Instruction Manual provides the API grade of oil to use and has an application chart to determine the appropriate viscosity oil to use for ambient temperature. Your engine should not need any additives if you use the recommended oil and change intervals. Your Isuzu engine is designed to use Number 2-D diesel fuel. Generally, the US EPA will accept compliant on-road or compliant non-road engines to be fitted with marine cooling systems and applied to vessels. Engines manufactured specifically for marine applications, however, are regulated to US EPA marine Tier 2. Why is Isuzu getting out of the mining engine business?

Mining engines are not regulated by the US EPA, but rather by an independent regulatory agency (MSHA).
